A Paradise Found

Islas de Gigantes : Islands of Giants

Tangke Lagoon ( ctto)

Islas de Gigantes or the Gigantes Group of Islands is an island chain within the Western Visayas archipelago. It is part of the municipality of Carles in Northern Iloilo. Comprising of ten islands, two of the biggest are Gigantes Norte and Gigantes Sur.

After several years of dreaming and planning, I finally had the chance to come to this magnificent islands with the help of an acquaintance who happened to be a native of this place. He actually accomodated us in their home.  So no need to worry on where to stay overnight.

It would take at least five hours to travel from Iloilo City to get there. The jump off points to these islands are either the towns of Estancia or Carles. We opted to take  Estancia.

Travelling could be tiresome but you would be rewarded by its beautiful seascapes.  It is a perfect place to unwind and spend your vacation.

Most of the established resorts are in Gigantes Norte. Or you can also arrange a homestay in Gigantes Sur. Just do some researching or ask for referrals.

When you get there, island hopping tour is a must. We visited the Tangke Laggoon ( one of the most popular among tourists), Cabugao Gamay and Bantigue Island. Sadly, we didnt got the chance to go to Antonia Island due to time constraint.

These islands I have mentioned offer pristine white sand beaches,  imposing rock formations and delightful seascapes.

Fresh sea foods abound in this place. And the price is astonishingly cheap.

And our homestay was definitely great.
